Gray & Kelli joined us in May for their 7 day "honeymoon safari" at Rooipoort Game Reserve. They were also invited to attend the PHASA (Professional Hunters Association of South Africa) Conservation and Empowerment Fund gala dinner in Johannesburg where Gray delivered a memorable speech as the evening's key-note speaker.
The primary hunter this time was Kelli who, a few years ago, drew first blood in Africa with her first Impala taken with PH Hans Vermaak in KwaZulu Natal. The 7 days flew by too fast. Kelli took some super trophies which included a Blesbok, an excellent Springbok, 2 Gemsbok and a massive Warthog. Gray hunted a Blue Wildebeest using Hans's 500 Nitro Express. Gray took the wildebeest cleanly at 68 yards with iron sights. Gray also bagged his first Red Hartebeest. All hunts were memorable, special and certainly never to be forgotten - as were the evenings around the camp fire and dinner table!
The team also tried their hand at some fly fishing for Yellow Fish and despite the noble efforts of the flyfishing experts Gray and Kelli, the fish did not play the game. However, the cold castle larger beers and unforgettable sunset that the team enjoyed on their last evening more than made up for it.
